Vineyard:
The Gran Reserva range come from the first and the second terrace in Los Lingues Estate. The soil presents a matrix of rocks in different states of decomposition, mainly as fragmented alterites, which give the balance sought between vigour, productivity and quality. Mineral notes are expressed because of the balanced extraction through the deep roots. Vinification:The vineyards are biodynamically managed, with stringent water management to preserve the terroir expression. At optimum yield of 1,5 kg per plant, the grapes are handpicked and brought to the cellar for sorting. In the tank, cold maceration (for aroma and flavor extraction) takes place over 5 days, followed by fermentation over two weeks at 75 to 79潞F. Finally, warm maceration (to extract just the most rounded and silky tannin) takes place. The final blending allows for a perfect balance between the expression and elegance of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the elegance from Tempranillo, freshness from Malbec and grip from Petit Verdot. Terroir:Clay texture with volcanic rocks and colluvial stones. Training system:Double Guyot Tasting Notes:I find a lot of complexity in the 2018 Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, perhaps because it's not really a varietal wine but rather a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Tempranillo and 3% Petit Verdot. 2018 was a cooler year of slow ripening and full development of aromas and flavors, and that's what I saw in this bottling, complex and deep, surprising at this price point. 91 Points Robert Parker - The Wine AdvocateRipe and powerful, offering a mix of brooding dark fruit and Asian spice flavors that show plenty of mocha notes, followed by hints of dark chocolate on the finish, with savory accents. Drink now through 2024. KM - 2018 vintage, 90 Points Wine SpectatorAbundant nose of red currant, black cherry, cedar, baking spices, vanilla, cherry pipe tobacco, and wet crushed slate aromatics. Palate offers pungent eucalyptus, blackberry, cassis liqueur, green peppercorn, hints of espresso, toffee, anise seed, and a sprinkling of black pepper and cocoa. NM Enjoy with:Bold beef dishes, juicy steaks, grilled burgers with caramelized red onions and smoky sharp cheddar, pork carnitas, and black truffle risotto. Certification:Ecocert |
